Webinar Recap: Family Experiences During COVID-19 Pandemic Data Webinar with Drs. Robert Sege and Lori Turk-Bicakci

On April 29, 2021, the California Essentials for Childhood (EfC) Initiative held a webinar entitled, “Family Experiences During COVID-19 Pandemic Data.” The purpose of this webinar was to share findings from wave 1 of the Family Experiences During COVID-19 Pandemic Questionnaire that was administered in November 2020. Drs. Robert Sege from the HOPE Project at Tufts Medical Center and Lori Turk-Bicakci from the KidsData program at PRB provided an overview of the questionnaire, summarized California and national findings, shared where to access California data and national messages, and offered highlights from the Healthy Outcomes Positive from Experience (HOPE) perspective.

The questionnaire, Family Experiences During the COVID-19 Pandemic, covers a wide range of content areas, including adverse childhood experiences as well as emotional and behavioral health, to help inform on the impact of the pandemic on children and families. The questionnaire was designed by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Prevent Child Abuse America (PCAA), and Tufts Medical Center, Healthy Outcomes from Positive Experiences (HOPE). In California, the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health (LPFCH) and the California Department of Public Health Essentials for Childhood (EfC) Initiative led by the California Department of Public Health, Injury and Violence Prevention Branch and California Department of Social Services, Office of Child Abuse Prevention, funded an oversample of the questionnaire to produce findings at the sub-state level.
