NAMPA, Idaho (CBS 2) — While school is out for the summer, the hard work of the students at Central Elementary School in Nampa is continuing to live on.
This year, for the first time, each grade-level chose a community service project to dedicate themselves to.
“I think it’s a great idea,” said Stacey Wilkerson, grandmother of a student at Central Elementary. “It’s better than video games!”
Now, the students are seeing their philanthropy bear fruit!
The school’s second and fourth graders spent their time designing and planting a community garden.
The fifth graders chose to interview residents at Family Life Memory Care Center and then, put together living history projects to help document their lives.
