Invitation: March 19th, Trauma Informed Care for Children and Families Act

You’re invited to join U.S. Senator Dick Durbin and U.S. Representative Danny Davis at a news conference announcing the introduction of the Trauma Informed Care for Children and Families Act which addresses the lack of identification, referral, and immediate support for children who experience trauma in the Chicago metropolitan area and throughout the nation.

The bill aims to provide the tools parents, teachers, doctors, service providers, and first responders need to identify and understand trauma and help kids get the help they need.  It also expands treatment and support funding to improve training and increase the number of providers so we’re better able to meet the needs of the kids who are identified as needing care.

The legislation has been endorsed by dozens of national and Chicago-area organizations.  If your organization has not yet endorsed the bill and would consider doing so, please contact Max Kanner at max_kanner@durbin.senate.gov.  Attached please find a bill summary and a section-by-section summary of the bill.

Please feel free to share this invitation with others who may be interested in attending on Sunday.   Please RSVP to SenDurbinRSVP@gmail.com if you are able to attend.   We hope to see you on Sunday!
