ELLETTSVILLE —The Richland-Bean Blossom Community School Corp. board approved a $2.5 million grant Monday night that will provide more mental health services directly to students.
The trauma-informed multi-tiered systems of support grant, or TIMS grant, will allow for R-BB to collaborate with the Indiana University School of Psychology.
“The scope of this project is a little different than what a what you would consider a typical school psychologist,” said Jennifer Anderson, the project director and R-BB director of special education.
Anderson said a school psychologist usually does evaluations and assessments for students going through the special education referral process. With the grant, R-BB will bring in more school psychologists that can work one-on-one with students needing mental health services instead of mainly doing assessments.
The grant is from the United States Department of Education and will be spread over a five-year period.
