Connections Matter is a community effort. We want everyone to know that fostering caring relationships with the children, families and adults in your life matters to developing healthy brains and thriving communities.
Connections Matter will kick off September 30 and October 1 with train-the-presenter workshops. Each workshop is designed to arm you with the facts, stories, tools and materials to carry this message into your communities. Sign up for one of three sessions:
- Wednesday, September 30, from 9 a.m.-noon, Fred Maytag II Scout Center, 6123 Scout Trail, Des Moines
- Wednesday, September 30, from 5:30-8:30 p.m., UnityPoint Health Education & Research Center, 1200 Pleasant Street, Des Moines
- Thursday, October 1, from 9 a.m.-noon, Plymouth Church, 4126 Ingersoll, Ave., Des Moines
Click here to register. The cost to attend is $10.
During the three-hour workshop, you will learn how to deliver a 20-minute and 50-minute presentation in settings such as networking lunch-and-learns, neighborhood groups, faith meetings and community planning sessions. Trained presenters will receive PowerPoint slides with notes and takeaway materials to hand out. Attendees will also learn about other resources to support awareness efforts.
Anyone is welcome to become a trained advocate! As a trained presenter, you will be able to train other presenters. We can also connect you with others working on this effort in your community.
