The Campaign for Trauma-Informed Policy and Practice (CTIPP) is a national organization whose mission is to create a healthy, just, resilient, and trauma-informed society where all individuals, families, and communities have the social, political, cultural, economic, and spiritual opportunities and support to thrive. CTIPP focuses on the root causes of our nations' most pressing challenges through open and collaborative engagement across sectors and systems and policy advocacy.
The CTIPP Resource Center offers a variety of tools and information that can be useful in enhancing your organization and community change efforts. One example is a set of resources focused on Developing SMARTIE Goals.
Most of us have heard of and used the SMART Goal model (Specific, Measurable, Achievable/Actionable, Relevant, and Time-bound) but this model adds Inclusive and Equitable to the process. "Inclusive" presents an opportunity to consider how you can bring traditionally excluded individuals and groups into processes, activities, decisions, and policy making in a way that shares power and honors lived experience. (Exemplifying the "Collaboration" principle of TIC). "Equitable" invites community and organizational leaders to look at how goals address systemic justice, inequity, or oppression. Visit the website link above to find a step-by-step planning tool to use in your own work as well as other resources to help strengthen your trauma-informed advocacy skills.
