The Family First Prevention Services Act is comprehensive child welfare legislation that was signed into law last year. Among other provisions, the law provides partial reimbursement to states from federal foster care entitlement funds, for trauma-informed, evidence-based intervention services that support families at-risk of being involved with the foster care system. The new law is currently being implemented in states and represents a unique opportunity for public health systems, health care providers, and community-based organizations to better partner with the child welfare system to keep families together and healthy. This interactive webinar will help you understand what is in the law, the timeline for implementation, how to best engage in your state and community as key decisions are made, and how the new law intersects with Medicaid and other benefit programs. We also welcome you to submit questions when you register to help us design presentations that are responsive to you.
Presenters will include:
• Congressional Staff Members
• Marlo Nash, National Director of Partnerships and Policy, Saint Francis Ministries
• Jessica Schubel, Senior Policy Analyst, Center on Budget and Policy Priorities
• Jeff Hild, Policy Director, Redstone Center, GWU School of Public Health
