Dulce Acosta, ACEs Connection Community Liaison, and Devika Shankar, Co-Chair of TIC Task Force of Greater Los Angeles
Over two hundred individuals gathered last week at the University of Southern California's screening of the award-winning document film, Paper Tigers. Hosted by the USC School of Social Work, the screening was sponsored by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), USC Alumni, USC Career Development Department, and the Trauma Informed Care Task Force of Greater Los Angeles (TICTFGLA). The first ever evening event of All School Day at the School of Social Work supported the theme of the challenges of public health and importance of trauma informed communities.
Reflecting the gaining traction of trauma informed schools and communities in our nation, the audience explored an opportunity to deepen their understanding of toxic stress and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).

Susan Hess, Co-Chair of the TICTFGLA, introduced the film and encouraged the audience members to join the task force. Moderated by Steven Kim, USC Alumni, his guidance with the panelists of their expertise on trauma informed schools further supported the audiences depth of understanding.
Panelists included K-Rahn Vallatine and(far right) Emily Polk Cummins. K-Rahn Vallatine, Founder of Live Above The Hype, and Emily Polk Cummins, Founder, The Lennox School, are both champions on how imperative trauma informed schools are for the well-being, safety and future of our neighborhoods and communities,
Numerous individuals inquired how they can be engaged in the resilient building movement and further support the collective synergy and momentum picking up steam as more schools and districts are fully engaged in their transformation of their practices, policies and procedures through a trauma informed, restorative practice lens.
