Libraries across Baltimore will be hosting Resilience film screenings and discussion panels for community members and stakeholders. This is a wonderful opportunity for...

Re: The TCC: Focusing on Community Healing & Engagement
Rosalyn, Thank you SO much for posting about your TCC group! I had no idea we had such an active community in Baltimore (good to see leadership really determined to bring help and healing to the urban communities who desperately need direction, connection, and information. I live in North Potomac, MD - in Montgomery County - and I can see where something like this would be so useful here as well. Perhaps sometime I can join you and get some hands-on background on how you formed and what...

Re: The TCC: Focusing on Community Healing & Engagement
Hi Brenda, Thanks for your comment! I actually won't be at the Kennedy Krieger Institute's Conference, though several of us will be attending "The Body Keeps the Score" next week w/Bessel van der Kolk next week in Towson. I work with the Baltimore group but live in Howard County & would love to see a bigger presence here also. You are welcome to attend any of the meetings, or if you would like to just get together over lunch or coffee, I'm open to that too. Our website is at...

Re: The TCC: Focusing on Community Healing & Engagement
Rosalyn, Yes - I would love to meet up with you sometime and talk. I have a course in Columbia on Tuesday evenings (6:45 - 9pm). I could meet you somewhere in Columbia that day (afternoon), if that would work. Otherwise, we'll have to pick a day on the calendar that works for both of us. Thursdays I have a course in Montgomery County, so that day is pretty much spoken for. Right now I am searching for placement, which is taking up more of my precious free time! I've had two interviews - one...

Hi Rosalyn, Tuesday, October 20th (or did you mean Wednesday, October 21st?) works fine. My class is at Johns Hopkins, which is on the other side of I-29 (about 15 minutes away). What time were you thinking about? I tend to go early, as traffic can be unpredictable. Brenda

Re: The TCC: Focusing on Community Healing & Engagement
Rosalyn, I'm fairly unfamiliar with Columbia, except for Bertucci's and Wegeman's, both of which are on Snowden River Parkway. I'm not a Starbucks person (I don't drink coffee), but definitely a tea person. I am flexible - could meet you any time that afternoon. Brenda

Hi Brenda, Why don't we meet at 4:30PM on Tuesday, Oct 20th at Riverside Cafe, since you are familiar with that area. It's at 8865 Stanford Blvd, Ste 127, Columbia , MD 21045 Just across the road from Wegmans. That way there won't be a lot of time before your class. Let me know if that works for you. Ros

Re: Dr. Vincent Felitti speaks in Hagerstown, MD
Brenda, or others, I would like to work with agencies and schools on the Eastern Shore to promote trauma informed classrooms. I work in a district that struggles with out-of-control youth but there seems to be little or no awareness of the impact of ACEs. Are there more experienced people here I could connect with? -Jonathan Williams, Easton

Re: Dr. Vincent Felitti speaks in Hagerstown, MD
Hi Jonathan, Yes, I do believe we have some other Maryland ACE Group members who have experience working with community on ACEs. I don't want to speak for them - hopefully they will see this and reply. Or you could write a column on what you hope to do and ask for input. I am in the last year of my graduate school program on Clinical Mental Health Counseling. It has my full attention right now! I have, from time to time, reached out to my own kids' public school system, MCPS in Montgomery...
