Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton approved a $796,000 program Build Community Capacity to Address Childhood Experiences (attached) to support Children’s Mental Health Collaboratives and Family Services Collaboratives in their local efforts to reduce risks related to ACEs and trauma. It states “Local community resilience initiatives will build community capacity (especially intensive training) among local child-serving agencies to provide trauma prevention and trauma-informed care.
The program was included in the 2016-17 Health & Human Services Budget that was signed on May 22nd, 2015, with implementation to begin July 1, 2017. It will build funding into the base budget for FY2018 & FY2019.
While the effective date for this item isn’t until July 2017, the work will continue to identify other sources of funding and support during this transition. The participants in state-regional collaboratives have started trainings and are working to improve services and systems based on what they’ve learned.
