NEW ORLEANS youth will get $350 in monthly payments as part of the city's new pilot program.
The news was announced May 4 after plans for the program were revealed in November 2021.
The announcement came from The Mayor's Office of Youth and Families.
According to the press release, the $350 payments make New Orleans the first city to send payments to young people.
The program is an effort to help the city's at-risk youth.
The relief is meant to connect the teens to education or job programs and decrease stress and other risk factors.
The program will serve 125 young people between the ages of 16-24.
They will receive a monthly cash payment of $350 for the next 10 months.
