1) The North Carolina Medicare For All Coalition (NCM4A) hosts a Webinar on Thursday October 7th at 7PM called "The Disadvantage of Medicare Advantage". 2) The NC Poor People's Campaign and the NAACP of North Carolina will hold another vigil this Friday Oct 8th at 5:00PM at 200 North Blount Street in Raleigh to demand a full pardon for Dontae Sharpe, a Greenville, NC man who was incarcerated for 26 years for a crime he did not commit. He has been exonerated and released from prison, but Dontae also must be rid of the false label of "felon" and receive the monetary compensation he deserves for the many years of his life stolen by a racist legal system. A documentary sharing Donate Sharpe's struggle is freely available to view HERE, and Dontae's words will inspire you to keep on keeping on, Forward Together. 3) Conversations on Faith and the Death Penalty: Join the North Carolina Coalition for Alternatives to the Death Penalty (NCCADP) for an online conversation about faith with those most impacted by our capital punishment system. Panelists include George Wilkerson, who is living on North Carolina’s death row; Andre Smith, who teaches Buddhism to men in prison and lost his son to homicide; and Rev. Sharon Risher, who lost her mother and two cousins in the shooting at Mother Emmanuel AME Church in Charleston. Jonathan Wilson Hartgrove, noted writer and leader in the Red Letter Christian movement and the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival, will moderate the panel. Register Here.
