The data about Adults Who Experienced Four or More Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) come from a state-based telephone surveillance system called the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS). BRFSS is the nation's premier system of health-related telephone surveys that collect state data about U.S. residents regarding their health-related risk behaviors, chronic health conditions, and use of preventive services. Florida is one of 50 states conducting the BRFSS with financial and technical assistance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In Florida, the BRFSS data is collected at the state level each year, and it is collected at the county level every three years.
