This interactive presentation will begin with a brief introduction around the science of mindfulness & will provide an overview of various mindfulness practices with ways to implement strategies in your personal and professional life during this crisis in our community, but also to support your ongoing professional resilience.
Presenters from the Support Center for Child Advocates, Allie Dolan, LSW and Meghan Johnson, MPH, have extensive experience in training on self-care and organizational strategies to mitigate vicarious trauma and burnout.
"Life on Pause: Becoming More Present with Reflective Poetry"

This cafe brings us reflective process and poetry to become more focused & creative during the pause and shift that the COVID-19 pandemic and its aftermath have brought us.
Reflective poetry can be one of the doorways into a more mindful appreciation of our world. Indeed certain kinds of poetry can help us to focus our awareness and assist us in exploring new ways of coping and being creative. Poems by such poets as Maya Angelou, Wendell Berry, Lynn Unger will be selected for our examination and inquiry.
This relaxed session will offer an opportunity for any participants who choose to do so to break into small groups/ rooms during the final 20 minutes of the session in order to share their thoughts with each other.
Presenter & Facilitator Vic Compher is a licensed clinical social worker, filmmaker, and poet.
