- Andi opened the meeting with introductions around the room
- Updates from Andi-
- April 4th Paper Tigers video – about 40 in attendance and included ETSU students, schools, juvenile court, city officials, will be scheduling more viewings
- TN Children symposium- Andi was a panelist for this and was able to share about grant in process; receptivity among different groups was shared
- Andi attended the Building Strong Brains symposium in Nashville April 18th- policy changes for TIC discussed
- ETSU- desire by dept head Wally Dixon to work on curriculum to be included
- Conference next spring 2018- discussions with Roger Leonard from Wellmont
- Updates from Becky-
- ACES in legislation– 40 bills from 18 states under review
- Attended the SAMSHA Gains Center- how trauma-informed care reduces crime; video from training reviewed on 6 true stories with discussion; How abusers repeat the cycle to survive; Abuse against those who care the most about us
Partner updates shared:
- Julia shared an invite to Open House- April 27th 5-7pm meet and greet with ETSU counselling and human services department
- Tori- Family Justice Center- discussed how site is making the area warm and friendly
- Stacey- quiet room at BGC up and going- kids and staff are using area
- New attendee- Tom Herrington from Steppenstone welcomed- site helps 13-17 yr old boys in crisis
- Robin- update for Beth Cox from coordinated school health- shared about Aug 5th Back to School Bash efforts to reach 1500 community kids and the need for family-friendly vendors, volunteers and school supplies (backpacks and list of items); TODAY (4/19) is Buffalo Wild Wings Community Day for BGC; New staff coming on board in next 30 days, quiet room dedication coming soon
- Julia- TIC training and principles are being implemented; resiliency is next on the list; add to ACE; resources SAMSHA available to use
- Ginger- update on Building Strong Brains and Strong Families grant- starting the training sessions with parents soon at BGC; documentation given to Stacey; new grant request in process; note about the NE Tennessee ACEs connection---all are welcomed to sign up for site
- Eric- reviewed the role of church mobilization within Summit Leadership with its partners
- Alice- 6 ACES trainings completedin Sullivan county and continue; if grant is obtained, more trainings will be offered; developing pediatric training for NAS moms to learn serve and return
- Upcoming trainings- Juvenile Court on 4/21
