Michigan ACEs Action (MI)

Healthy and resilient kids, families, and communities are the foundation for a flourishing, vibrant region. We are dedicated to creating a trauma-informed Michigan and working together across sectors to share our efforts in building resilience and reducing toxic stress for Michigan children and families.

Are You A Part of the Michigan ACE Initiative?

Hello,

If you are a part of the Michigan ACE initiative and if you are working on spreading information about ACEs, Resilience, and Toxic Stress in our state, could you please take a little time to share what you are doing in the state so others here are aware.

There are many of us who are very interested in what you are doing no matter what you do.  We are interested in school - rural / urban, DHS, CMH, Great Start.

We cannot learn from you if you don't share with the rest of us.

Thanks for all you do!!!

Dr. Tina Marie Hahn, MD, Pediatrics

Hi Lia,

Is there any kind of support for rural communities like mine.  I mostly see foster kids or foster involved kids.  Just wondering.

Would like to discuss if that's possible and do you know what's going on in the Rural Peds Section?

Thanks

Hi Sarah,

Are you doing anything to educate in your community about ACEs / Toxic Stress / Epigenetics / Mind-Body Connection / Altered but Predictable Brain Changes to the developing brain experiencing childhood adversity and developmental chaos?

Early childhood is an excellent area where this information would be incredibly useful.  I also see Obstetrics as another avenue to act  early with a two generation approach to decrease toxic stress because toxic stress is already affecting the fetus in the womb and I have seen some children adopted into very loving homes at birth who are showing severe signs of behavioral dysregulation due to what I can only assume is the effects of elevated maternal steroids and developmental chaos when the infant was in the womb.

I know that there are others in Michigan who believe that this science and this work is important so I am imploring others who are doing the work to share.

Sincerely,

Dr. Tina Marie Hahn, MD (Passionate about reducing the pain that so many children in Michigan experience).
