The Workforce Development Workgroup met on Wednesday, September 21st. The group had not met in several months so they used their time to update each other on their ongoing projects. They began with a review of the training database that was developed for the Philadelphia ACE Task Force website. This database holds information about regional trainings and is searchable by target audience, available credits, and whether or not the training is offered for free. Members asked how to highlight other trainings on the site. Staff will develop a Google Form for members to be able to provide appropriate content. The group then moved on to discuss the ACEs in Higher Ed event which will take place on October 20th. This event will be focused on ways to integrate information about ACEs, trauma, and resilience into curricula and will feature members of the task force and their experience teaching about this work. The group also discussed the continuation of the focus group work with the School District of Philadelphia and was informed by School District staff that they planned to hire a new Coordinator for Trauma-Informed School Practices, a fact the workgroup was very happy to hear. Finally, the group discussed potential projects that could inform the business community about ACEs and trauma. One member provided a training to United Food and Commercial Workers Union about this topic and steps they can take to be more trauma-informed in their actions. Another highlighted their partnership with Subaru as a model for engaging the business sector. The group discussed opportunities for projects â potentially creating a toolkit along with trainings to work with this sector.
