You Are Invited to a "Chat & Chew" Information Session
We have to take care of our minds the same way we take care of our bodies and our spiritual side. Come learn about a new tool to check one's mental wellness and learn coping strategies.
MEE Productions invites you to a "Chat & Chew" information session to discuss a new Philadelphia initiative to increase awareness of an online screening tool that highlights feelings and behaviors that may indicate elevated levels of stress, worrying or unrealized trauma. This 60- to 90-minute session will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at the Philadelphia Business and Technology Center, in the Parkside neighborhood.
MEE has been working with the Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services (DBHIDS) to increase the effectiveness of its website, HealthyMindsPhilly.org, in engaging communities of color around mental wellness issues. One goal is to increase the number of African Americans in the city who take advantage of a free, online screening offered via the site.
Because we value your opinion, we have suggested this "Chat & Chew" session as a way for community leaders like you to learn about mental wellness challenges in our community (including stigmas). We would also like to discuss what we all can do together to get more people to use this online screening to "get a checkup from the neck up;" get more people of color to feel comfortable talking about-and doing something about-their mental wellness; and increase knowledge in our community about options beyond therapeutic treatment for reducing stress and coping with trauma. We also want you to provide feedback on how to enhance DBHIDS' new screening tool and the Healthy Minds Philly Website. DBHIDS staff will also discuss some of their outreach plans to improve community wellness. In the "Chat & Chew," we will co-present on these topics:
Provide an overview of the campaign and the various DBHIDS resources that support it;
Preview the mental wellness screening tool and HealthyMindsPhilly.org, along with other campaign materials;
Get your feedback on "how we can get the word out" about the availability of the online screening and other resources, and see if you'll be a campaign partner.
Light lunch/refreshments will be served.
The meeting will be held in the First Floor Conference Room. There is also free parking in the rear of the building.RSVP to Glennis Saunders by Friday, January 29 to facilitate logistics and ensure your space!
