Toxic Stress: Identifying and Treating PTSD
The Gershman Y
Tuesday, November 18, 7 pm
Free and Open to the Public
As many as 8% of Americans will have Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) at some point in their lives, with women developing PTSD at twice the rate of men. PTSD first came to public attention in relation to war veterans, but it can result from a variety of traumatic incidents such as mugging, rape, domestic abuse, car accidents, or natural disasters, to name just a few.
Join The Gershmah Y for an important, frank discussion about PTSD led by renowned clinical psychologist and researcher Dr. Elna Yadin, from PENN’s Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety (CTSA). A native of Israel, Dr. Yadin earned her Ph.D. in physiological and experimental psychology at Bryn Mawr College in 1979 and spent 20 years studying the neuroscience of anxiety and relief mechanisms in the brain. She has been working at University of Pennsylvania’s CTSA since 1998, where she serves as Director of the OCD Clinic.
Dr. Yadin has spent years training and supervising professionals around the world in the implementation of evidence-based treatments for OCD and PTSD. She is the co-author of five books published in English and Hebrew.
