LGBTQIA 201 Putting our Knowlege into Practice

LGBTQIA 201
Thursday, June 23, 2022,1:00 PM - 3:00 PM, EDT
LGBTQIA youth and adults can experience trauma on many different levels in comparison to their cis-hetero peers. In this workshop, we will take a more in-depth look into how early childhood trauma (ACES) can affect people within the LGBTQIA community. How can we as service providers continue to support respectful and trauma informed approaches with the LGBTQIA individuals we serve, in spite of our own personal beliefs? We will discuss what happens when we are able to unpack our own unconscious biases regarding gender, masculine and feminine identities. This workshop will be held as a space for direct service providers to gain or refresh their knowledge of LGBTQIA cultural competency in order to continue to provide respectful and dignified support to all individuals.
