Our work with people who use drugs or who are living in crisis means we are more likely to experience loss, but we also face challenges when trying to find time for grief and healing.
We are offering space for people who work with people who use drugs to come together in acknowledgement of our shared grief, to find paths towards healing and an opportunity to honor those we have lost to fatal overdose. There will be a brief memorial in which participants will have an opportunity to share.
We will gather in the Philadelphia Overdose Memorial Garden, which is sponsored by PhillyHEALs (Healing and Empowerment After Loss), a program of the Philadelphia Department of Public Health's Division of Substance Use Prevention and Harm Reduction's Bereavement Care Program for loss due to substance use.
