Philadephia ACE Task Force Film Festival

WHYY Studios Philadelphia

The Philadelphia ACE Task Force (PATF) will host a half day film festival featuring two powerful films about how adversity, trauma and toxic stress impact individuals, professional caregivers and communities and what can be done to heal and foster resilience.

The Festival will include the Philadelphia premiere of Paper Tigersproduced by documentary film maker James Redford.  The film takes an intimate look into the lives of selected students at Lincoln High School, an alternative school that specializes in educating traumatized youth. Set amidst the rural community of Walla Walla, WA, the film intimately examines the inspiring promise of Trauma Informed Communities - a movement that is showing great promise in healing youth struggling with the dark legacy of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES).

Also featured is  Portraits of Professional Caregivers:  Their Passion, Their Pain.  a documentary film, produced by two Philadelphia based filmmakers,  takes us on a journey into a world the public has not seen. The film depicts the dramatic emotional costs experienced by professional providers such as nurses, social workers, clinical psychologists, doctors, firefighters, first responders who rescue, assist, and when possible heal the injured and traumatized. Through dramatic stories, CAREGIVERS film probes the emotionally risky aspects of professional caregivers and public servants.
