This webcast will share the challenges and opportunities of becoming a trauma-informed city through the experiences and practices of individuals and systems in Philadelphia. A group of leaders who have adopted trauma-informed practices were interviewed about their experiences recognizing trauma as an issue, what they decided to do about it, and the change they have seen from the work of their organization. They provide insight on what changes still need to be made in public policy and advice for service providers in other cities and communities that would like to get involved in trauma-informed care. Participants can expect:
- To understand how trauma can affect the many different systems that make up a city infrastructure
- To review the lessons learned from city leaders and service providers on integrating trauma into their existing systems
- To define the adverse childhood experiences survey and how it affects health outcomes
- To outline necessary policy change in order to work towards a trauma-informed city
Dr. Sandra Bloom, an internationally known expert on trauma-informed care and the creator of the Sanctuary Model®, will be conducting a live webcast to weave together the many different perspectives and discuss the importance of these systems in developing a common language and common goals. Check out the "teaser" for the webcast! A link to the webcast will be provided on Thursday, May 26th and Tuesday, May 31st.
