From Dr. Kenneth Ginsburg,Β

"Telling young people what not to do makes them aware of problems, but does little to create change. In fact, it engenders shame and can therefore backfire. An approach that addresses risk by building on the strengths of youth promotes positive changes by building young people’s confidence and helping each understand how much he or she matters. Youth who understand that others expect the best from them gain self-worth and are poised to THRIVE."

What are some other proven methods to build resiliency in young people?

Gregory~ I'm just replying as a parent ~Β I work on allowing my son to come up with his own ideas on solving problems Β (real or unfactual problems), encouraging him to be in his creative side ( drawing, listening to music, both of which he enjoys) after difficult times he may be experiencing, Β and being consciousness on how I handle life adversities with my actions ( as even though he's a teenager, I'm sure he's still absorbing actions like a sponge :) ....and when I mean I work on it....it definitely takes work, I don't always succeed.
