Pacific Puppetry & Banyan Global Learning Present
"Bird That Wants to Fly"
3-4pm Pacific on Thursday, June 11th
This is the story of a bird who was treated very poorly and so has decided to walk instead of fly. As the story unfolds, it becomes clear that through empathy and friendship we can help each other achieve our fullest potential. It is an archetypal story of resilience and transformation that offers healing for children and adults.
During the show we will practice social and emotional learning and afterwards we will make our own puppets out of household items! After all, ANYTHING can be a puppet.
Author Diane Kaufman, MD will attend a Q & A after the puppet show. Hooray!
Puppeteer Kris Woolen is passionate about puppets and singing. She has been a professional touring puppeteer for 20+ years with Tears of Joy Puppet Theatre and currently works (and plays) with Pacific Puppetry, Portland Puppetry Guild and the PDX Puppet Collective. She studied with Yuqin Wang and Zhengli Xu of China, (rod puppets) Jan Wilkowski of Poland (rod puppets), Joseph Crofta of the Czech Republic (projections and poetry), and fifth generation master puppeteer of China, Yang Feng. (hand puppets)
