Resilience Champions Take Action

The world feels chaotic. We are seeing policies shift overnight, communities struggling, and feeling the weight of uncertainty at work and with the people we serve.

It’s easy to feel powerless.

Some of us are going through the motions—just trying to get through the day. Others are shutting down, overwhelmed by the enormity of what’s happening around them. (That’s okay! That means you need time to rest).

And then there are those of us who ask: “What can I do?”

The answer? You can lead.

In times of change, trauma-informed advocates—what we call Resilience Champions—step forward. Not because they have all the answers, but because they understand that small, purposeful acts create real impact.
Resilience Champions in Action
Since 2017, we’ve worked alongside trauma-informed advocates who are transforming their workplaces and communities through a trauma-informed approach. They’re not waiting for someone else to fix things—they’re taking action.

These leaders come from all backgrounds and experiences. Leadership isn’t about titles. Leadership is about action.

  • Aaron Scott, a training manager and PCTIC facilitator, revamped his organization’s approach to staff development, creating a shared language around trauma-informed care that helps his team navigate challenges.

  • Dr. Erika Roshanravan, a family physician and medical director, incorporated simple, hands-on techniques in staff meetings to help her team recognize and manage stress, creating a culture of connection even in high-pressure environments.

  • Nathel Lewis, a behavioral health analyst and executive director, is training special education team members to shift their mindset, helping them see that behavior is communication that often reflects unmet needs.

They didn’t wait for the perfect moment. They took action, step by tiny step.

And now, you don’t have to wait. Leadership starts now.

If you’re ready to step into leadership and build a stronger, more connected organization or community, take inspiration from those already making an impact.

Read how Aaron, Erika, and Nathel are transforming their workplaces using a trauma-informed approach—and discover how you can do the same.
