This is beautiful. I do believe that the heart-sense is indeed the surest form of guidance we have, but for many of us who've experienced childhood trauma, trusting that heart-sense or even finding access to it can be nearly impossible. So many of us have closed our heart spaces out of a need to defend ourselves and survive horrible circumstances, or we've intellectualized everything, getting stuck in our heads (or both). Bob, beautifully written. I wish real love could be found in every church. Jesus gave only 2 commandments Love God and Love your neighbor. However, sadly love is the last thing you find in a church. What you get is judgment, meanness, superiority, lack of support. Money is what speaks in most of these houses of God. All you need is 1 kind and loving person to heal. If you are lucky you will find him/her or else the pain never goes away.

Thanks for another informative article about meditation, Amardeep. There's plenty of motivation there to keep a dedicated meditator returning to her cushion every day and plenty to encourage non-meditators to give it a go. The reasons to meditate sure seem to outweigh reasons not to do it.

Such helpful suggestions. I enjoy knowing there's scientific evidence to back up the techniques too (although I've nothing against anecdotal support). I tried the 3-Part breath and was surprised at how different it felt from the usual slow and steady inhalation. Must be something about the mindful focus on where in the lungs the breath is during the breathing process, I'm guessing. Thanks so much, Jen, for sharing this here.

It's possible to have the best of both worlds -- the benefits of mindfulness meditation AND mindful movement in one. Mind Matters Lessons - Lessons Posted Online
Yesterday, Carolyn Curtis completed the free twelve-week online class of her program Mind Matters: Overcoming Adversity and Building Resilience . It was an amazing experience! Between 550 to 425 people attended each session. Overall, 2,300 people attend at least one class. The first class on Self-Soothing now has close to 3,000 views. Participants reported that it helped them deal with the isolation of the shelter in place order. It was the one thing they looked forward to all week long.
