In this support group we honor intersectionality and respect each other’s unique life experiences and backgrounds. This is a support group to empower attendees (peers) in understanding the importance of self disclosure, as well as their preference for self identifying (mental illness or mental health diagnosis). Explore and share recovery coping skills, discuss quality of life, disclose concerns regarding your mental health rights, and learn how to be your own advocate.
Participants: this support group is recommended for individuals who identify themselves as someone with a disability: behavioral, mental, physical and intellectual. Clinicians interested in sharing their experiences of the recovery movement, health care parity, human rights and to offer support and share recovery models and any other resourceful information for the benefit of self-help and self-empowerment to peers.
