40 years as a volunteer EMT I have found the ACEs Survey a cutting edge patient evaluation tool. I only wish I had 6 years of medical school to begin a treatment plan for my patients. I only offer the ACEs survey to a select group of patients. Mainly patients with emotional trauma or temporary altered mental status. I have successfully transitioned the score to the ER medical staff at times. I am currently working with the University at Buffalo in an attempt to write protocol for review by my regional EMS council (Wyoming Erie Regional Emergency Medical Service Council). My goal for ACEs in the field is for public awareness and transition the score to the ER. My hope is for every emergency medical technician to be trained in this new protocol.
