The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's (RWJF) Adverse Childhood Experiences page collects the latest news and perspectives about ACEs, "The Truth About ACEs" (a graphic describing ACEs), and videos.

RWJF supports many projects that integrate trauma-informed, resilience-building practices based on ACEs research, which includes the epidemiology of ACEs, the neurobiology of toxic stress, the long-term biomedical and epigenetic effects of toxic stress, and resilience research. These projects include:

The first National Summit on Adverse Childhood Experiences -- Held in Independence Hall in Philadelphia, PA, the summit attracted 250 leaders from across the United States. 

The National Collaborative on Adversity and Resilience -- In December 2013, about 35 leaders in adverse childhood experiences research, policy, and practice convened at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to follow up on the national summit on ACEs earlier in the year. They produced this report, which outlines action steps for the trauma-informed, resilience-building movement. 

Child First -- An evidence-based model that uses home visits and a network of community services to prevent the devastating effects of early childhood adversity. The model aims to identify children and families with serious challenges (at the earliest possible time) and connect them to well-integrated community-based resources to help them deal with the source of the stress directly: from basic needs like food and housing to issues like depression or intimate partner violence 

Head Start Trauma Smart -- An early childhood trauma intervention model that addresses the effects of complex trauma—such as community and family violence, poverty, illness, and homelessness— for young preschool-age children, their families, and the Head Start teachers who care for them. The model gives all Head Start staff and parents training to create calm, connected classrooms and home environments that recognize and address behavioral and other problems triggered by trauma, and provide the supports for children to learn and thrive. Crittenton Children’s Center in Kansas City is replicating its HS-TS program into urban, suburban, and rural communities throughout Missouri. 

What Shapes Health? -- A poll conducted with the Harvard School of Public Health. One of the five key findings is that nearly four in 10 Americans (39%) report that they had one or more childhood experiences that they believe have had a harmful effect on their health later in life.
