FREE Online Nutrition and Cooking Classes starting January 31!

 

The Carolina Hunger Initiative is hosting free online nutrition and cooking classes for children and adults starting January 31, 2022.

Cooking Matters at Home: Mondays at 7pm

Join us online for FREE online nutrition and cooking education lessons! The Cooking Matters at Home program shares information about buying healthy, affordable foods that families can prepare and eat together at home.

Spring lessons will be held Mondays at 7pm, starting on January 31, 2022. Register Here

All lessons will be held via Zoom. The Zoom link will be sent to participants after completing the registration form. Participants have the opportunity to receive a $10 grocery store gift card, provided by Inter-Faith Food Shuttle.

    Lesson 1: Cooking Matters at the Store

    Tips to save money and buy healthy items on a budget at the grocery store.
  • Monday, Feb. 7
    Lesson 2: Money-Saver Alert

    How to use what you have and save money on groceries while limiting food waste for your family.

    Lesson 3: No More Mealtime Madness

    Tips to plan and prepare quick, budget-friendly, and chaos-free meals

    Lesson 5: Making Recipes Work for You

    How to make recipes work for your family by using what you have on hand and ingredients your family members love.

Cooking Matters for Kids: Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Join us online for FREE online nutrition and cooking education lessons! Cooking Matters for Kids teaches kids about healthy eating and cooking. Lessons will include live cooking demonstrations and recipes will be sent to participants in advance so they can cook along if they’d like. Lessons are open to all ages, but are best suited for 3rd-5th graders.

Spring lessons will be held Thursdays at 5:30pm, starting on February 3, 2022. Register here.

    This lesson will introduce kids to the basic principles of healthy eating and safe cooking.

    This lesson will teach kids the importance of eating a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables.

    Lesson 3: Whole Grain Goodness
    This lesson will encourage kids to choose whole grains over refined grains and to eat breakfast every day.

    This lesson will teach kids how to make healthy snack and beverage choices.

    This lesson will encourage kids to make healthy food and beverage choices away from home.

    This lesson will celebrate kids’ accomplishments in preparing meals and snacks with fruits, vegetables, and whole grains through fun trivia questions.
