One week ago today, Resiliency Brunswick County held its first resiliency task force meeting. The energy could be felt even across our virtual platform. We had representation from school, justice, healthcare, mental health, and community sectors. Many shared they participate in resiliency efforts in neighboring counties are excited to bring the work to Brunswick County.
We learned about an exciting opportunity to partner with United Way of the Cape Fear Area and ACEs Connection and fellow area resiliency task force groups to take a regional approach in addressing ACEs and building resiliency across the Cape Fear region. We are fortunate to have the opportunity to learn from our friends currently doing this work in New Hanover, Pender, and Columbus counties. In addition, Carey Sipp with ACEs Connection will continue to guide and support our work. Carey is passionate, knowledgeable, and a joy to work with. Thank you all for supporting our efforts in Brunswick County!
Looking ahead, we will utilize the next 4 -5 months to build our resiliency task force. If you live or work in Brunswick County, NC you’re invited!! We will meet monthly on the 2nd Wednesday from 3:00 – 4:30pm. Our next meeting is Wednesday, March 10th. Before then, we would love to hear from you. - Who needs an invitation? Who should be at the table participating in these discussions?
- What do you want to see for Brunswick County?
- How do we best educate our community on Adverse Childhood Experiences, trauma-informed practices, and resiliency skills?
- What are we already doing that’s working well?
Please join us on this journey to building a “trauma-informed and resiliency-focused” community!
