The Resilient Solano Strategic Plan includes an overview of the plan development process, and outlines in detail the key stages and specific steps of implementation, a few of which are already underway or completed. Active steps include the media campaign to educate the community about ACEs; community wide presentations on ACEs and Resilience; and screening events of the film Resilience.
Community wide presentations were a key element of the plan development process. These presentations ensured that a wide range of community members had opportunity to give input on what the plan should include. Presentations were held over the course of a year, and community feedback was also gathered at the first annual Resilience Summit in May 2019 (click to read about the Summit). Detailed feedback from community members is included in the appendices to the attached full strategic plan.
The following excerpt is from the introduction to the Strategic Plan:
"In 2017, Solano Public Health collaborated with local healthcare organizations and community partners to complete a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) and began strategic planning with a multi-sectoral collaborative, Healthy Solano, to address identified priority issue areas through collective action. This process led to the development of a Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) which highlights βInequitable K-12 Education and Barriers to Educational Attainmentβ as a priority issue and outlines specific strategies to ensure that Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are understood, prioritized and addressed in schools and the community. The CHIP is currently being implemented by partners of the Healthy Solano Collaborative, and includes four additional priority areas: Poverty, Affordable Housing, Homelessness, and Unemployment."
