Bina is known in the community for her education and youth development focused work. In fact, she attended the Beyond Trauma: Building a Resilient Sacramento symposium in 2015, the first event hosted by Resilient Sacramento. She was also active in the campaign to bring a city parcel tax that would designate funds in Sacramento City Unified School District, to increase hiring of social workers and therapists who can provide the socio-emotional supports children need in order to thrive in school. Bina will certainly bring this perspective to the work of the County Board of Education.
The Swearing-In Ceremony was held at American Legion High School, a continuation school where Bina has been a long time volunteer. Bina was inducted into the role with an address by Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg, and with comments from retiring Area 1 Trustee Greg Geeting, County Superintendent of Schools David W. Gordon, District 5 Sacramento City Council Member Jay Schenirer, and Oakridge Elementary Principal Danny Rolleri.
