Crocker Art Museum's Sutter Teen Waived Admission Program

Crocker Art Museum, with the help of a grant from Sutter Health Valley Operating Unit Community Benefits, has established The Sutter Teen Waived Admission Program. The program grants free Museum admission to teens living in Sacramento’s underserved communities. The intent of the Sutter Teen Waived Admission Program is to create greater access to the Museum and to art education experiences that can inspire and encourage youth who are facing adverse childhood experiences.

“Our students, for the most part, come from under-resourced households where every dollar counts, “ says Florin High School teacher Alex Snipes. “However, that does not reflect our students’ interest in arts engagement or the expansion of their own horizons. Their excitement over the Teen Passes is a clear indication of that.”

In addition to free admission to the Museum, the program offers full and partial scholarships for studio art classes and supports The Takeover, an arts and cultural festival for teens happening in May 27, 2017.

“It is the Crocker’s mission to enrich the intellectual and cultural life of the communities we serve. Supporters like Sutter Health make this possible,” says Stacey Shelnut-Hendrick, the Crocker’s director of education. The Museum and its collection are here for the full benefit of young people, and the Museum is made better by their presence.”
