Mission Statement Notes: Please comment with your feedback and suggestions!

We are building the Mission Statement of the Sacramento ACEs Working Group and would love to receive feedback from everyone in the group, whether you have been to a meeting or not! (And please come out to a meeting, we'd love to meet you!)

The Mission Statement notes from the last meeting are  attached. An earlier draft can be located here.

Please give your feedback in the comment section below!

The things that stand out most to me are:

  • language around "multi-sector" or "collaborative" efforts
  • awareness about ACEs
  • trauma-informed care

For me, I would be happy with any mission statement that incorporates these concepts. (But I also acknowledge that I am not the most knowledgeable person about ACEs - so in the end I defer to those of you who are more qualified!)

HI

I've been out of town for a while, so sorry I'm taking a little while to share my ideas on the Mission statement.

First I like the general language of collaboration, awareness and education.
I think it would be good to add "create a common language" also as this will help those working in multi-disciplinary areas to better communicate and work together.

Finally, I would like the way it emphasizes "traumatized community" as the target, but perhaps to say something like, "in the Sacramento community, with special emphasis on the traumatized community".  I think this is more inclusive and lets the whole community know that this is about everyone, not just traumatized people, but a paradign shift in the way we look at the world

Thanks

Julie
