My name is Carolee Tran and I'm a psychologist who is a survivor of sexual abuse. I teach at UC Davis and also have a private practice in mid-town Sacramento. I specialize in the treatment of trauma.
I am writing to announce the publication of my book“The Gifts of Adversity: Reflections of a Psychologist, Refugee, and Survivor of Sexual Abuse.” I felt compelled to write this book to help others- refugees, sexual abuse, and trauma survivors. I also felt a deep sense of responsibility to speak out as a refugee against the current administration and to condemn its inhumane treatment of migrant families and children. My hope is that my book will cultivate greater understanding, compassion for refugees and immigrants, and greater hope and healing for trauma survivors.
