Steering Committee's Proposed Proclamation - City Council | Board of Supervisors

I am writing on behalf of the Steering Committee. We have been working on a Proclamation to declare the 2nd Tuesday of April as Adverse Childhood Experiences & Resilience Awareness and Action Day for your review and approval at our May 8 meeting. We are thrilled to report there are similar efforts in progress or passed in cities, counties and states across the country, including the Sate of California, whose Resolution is soon to be published and designates May 22nd as National Trauma-Informed Day.

We propose sending a final version of the Proclamation (once approved by Resilient Sac members on May 8th) to the City Council/Mayor and the County Board of Supervisors/Chair and ask they approve and sign it. To that end, we have also drafted a template letter we're asking you to send to your organization asking they submit a letter of support for the Proclamation's approval. We want this to be a community-wide effort.

So please look at the attached draft Proclamation and Letter Template. This will be one of the first items on our agenda, Tuesday. If you all approve it, Steering Committee members will take it, along with the letters of support, to the City Council/Mayor and the County Board of Supervisors/Chair and ask for their approval and signature.

See you Tuesday, May 8th!

Hello, I was looking forward to being at tonight's meeting. I had minor eye surgery this morning, and I'm finding my body needs to rest more and heal.

My organization, Chill Sacramento, will be happy to submit a letter of support for Adverse Childhood Experiences & Resilience Awareness and Action Day.

I hope all goes well with your recovery, and thank you for the wonderful news about your organization’s letter of support!

Sounds greast!  Question, any reason the 2nd Tuesday in April?

Hi Gail,

It was to coincide with the Resilient Sacramento Committee meeting on the 2nd Tuesday in hopes of gathering more committee members at whatever event is planned. We could also make it the 2nd Tuesday of May to coincide with Child Abuse Prevention Month. Do you have any suggestions? We can talk about it tomorrow at the meeting.

Thanks,

Lisa
