Sacramento County Juvenile Probation is among Trauma Informed Practice leaders in the State

Just as state senators work toward ending the practice statewide of charging families exorbitant fees for their juvenile justice involved youth, Sacramento County Probation has already acted to end the practice. Ending these fees is an example of a trauma-informed approach to the care of struggling families- taking into consideration how the charging of fees exacerbates family stress.

Resilient Sac ACEs Connection Meeting April 11, 2017

The Resilient Sac monthly meeting went on despite many being away on spring break. The presentation this month was from CASA's Sarah Torres and Crystal Burns. They did a great job informing the group about CASA's nation wide program and the work happening in Sacramento. CASA's goal of building resilient foster youth is enhanced by including a trauma informed lens in the training CASA volunteers receive. CASA is always looking for new volunteers to meet the needs of area foster youth.
