As you may have heard, a few proposals have been discussed for the reuse of Sacramento City Unified School District's vacant sites on 24th Street and Florin Road. This meeting would discuss options for a use of the site as a temporary 50-75 bed City-supported Winter Triage Center in Winter 2017-18.
No decisions have been made about this site at this time.
Before the City Council or the SCUSD make any decisions, the City would like to engage local residents, business, and other stakeholders in a conversation about:
- How any proposed winter triage shelter would operate and impact neighbors
- Site conditions needed for a proposed facility
- Possible populations served by the facility - youth, disabled, senior, other
- Services available for those sheltered - including supportive services and housing
- Public opportunities for community input and time frames for decisions should an effort move forward
Representatives from the City, SCUSD, Sacramento Police Department, Paratransit, and others will be available to hear concerns and provide answers to frequently asked questions about winter shelter operations and possible impacts.
