Despite the efforts of a landmark public health campaign, African-American children remain sharply overrepresented in Sacramento morgues, SN&R has found. Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Booster Training Conducted by certified trainer Alison Hendricks, LCSW
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is a short term, evidence-based treatment model for children ages 3-18 who have been impacted by trauma and their caregivers. TF-CBT has been shown to significantly reduce children’s post-traumatic stress and other trauma reactions as well as increasing caregivers’ ability to support children in their recovery. In 2019, more than $40 million will become available to fund community-based, culturally rooted, trauma-informed services for youth in California as alternatives to arrest and incarceration. Thousands of California youth are arrested every year for low-level offenses.
