Dr Nadine Burke Harris Sworn in as CA first Surgeon General
Barbara Stern and I (from Reslient Sacramento) were able to attend the swearing in ceremony for CA's first ever Surgeon General, Dr Nadine Burke Harris at the State Capitol in the Governor's Council Room. The ceremony was well attended by family and friends. Governor Newsom lauded Dr Harris as the right person to address the health of California to include early childhood adversity and toxic stress.

Hundreds to thousands to tens of thousands: The ACEs/trauma-informed/resilience-building movement accelerates in the San Francisco Bay Area
Last Friday, on a sunny Spring day in Santa Clara, CA, about 100 people gathered to celebrate a milestone: Over the last 10 months, 65 trainers from Trauma Transformed, a regional trauma-informed center and clearinghouse in the San Francisco Bay Area, have educated 4,048 people in six counties about trauma-informed principles and practices.

Mental Health First Aid Available to Sacramento Service Providers
The National Council for Behavioral Health just celebrated the training of the 10,000th Mental Health First Aid instructor by the Mental Health Association in New York State in Albany on July 29.

The Alternatives to Violence Project (ACP) is a grassroots, volunteer program dedicated to reducing violence in our lives, in our homes, in our schools, in our prisons, in our streets and in our society. Violence comes in many forms--from put-downs and dismissal of ourselves and others to the taking of human life. Most people are exposed to some form of violence daily.
