Four Learn4Life students enjoyed a wonderful experience of having facials with Community Wraparound’s Community Mentor, Christina Vargas, on August 24th, at Community Wraparound’s office in the Jacobs Center in San Diego,
Facial supplies were provided and the youth laughed and giggled as they enjoyed the experience together. Angelina shared that her favorite part was meeting everyone and having a different space to hang out with girls.
Amy was grateful to be invited to express her feelings, and Jazmin reflected how she felt good about herself and uplifted that there are nice people. She shared that in many of her school experiences, there were a lot of mean people and she was used to feeling left out.
Community Mentor Christina reflected on her intention for the facial's opportunity with the young ladies was how it doesn’t matter how on point your makeup is, or how many times people tell you that you’re beautiful. Christina’s goal was supporting the young ladies' confidence in themselves so they will not look to the world for their validation, rather, nurturing what they feel on the inside. Christina shared “If what you feel inside doesn’t match what you feel on the outside, you will always feel less than.”
Excitedly, several more young ladies have expressed interest in having facials with Community Mentor Christina! Community Wraparound will be purchasing the supplies for the facials and the young ladies are gifted with them following their facials.
