MOBILIZING ACTION FOR RESILIENT COMMUNITIES (MARC)
WHAT IS MARC?
Fourteen multi-sector, well-established communities throughout the United States have been awarded the MARC grant and we’re excited to announce that San Diego is one of them.
MARC, is a national effort coordinated by the Health Federation of Philadelphia with support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the California Health Endowment to support community projects that create a just, healthy and resilient world. The Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) Study recognizes the long term effects of traumatic childhood experiences. MARC funds community efforts that seek to overcome adversity through policy and system change and by promoting health and well-being in their community.
As a recipient of this grant, San Diego has been nationally recognized as a community at the forefront of collaborating across sectors to prevent ACEs and to create systems that are trauma-informed through the well established work of the San Diego Trauma Informed Guide Team (SD-TIGT) and Building Healthy Communities.
GOALS
Through a collaborative process with the SD-TIGT, Building Healthy Communities, and others, the following MARC goals will be achieved over the next two years:
- Strengthen and grow the SD-TIGT as a cross-sector movement aimed at promoting resilience and preventing / reducing ACEs in San Diego.
- Enhance the capacity of the SD-TIGT network to establish system change within the policy, program, and practice levels.
- Provide promotional materials and educational tools that compliment and support the goals and objectives of the Building Healthy Communities initiative.

We invite you to be a part of the MARC community. We look forward to learning more about the efforts of your community or organization to promote resilience and prevent / reduce ACEs in San Diego. You can get involved by:
