It was great to see all the new, and returning, faces at our Guide Team meeting on May 5th! We had 38 attendees!
See the meeting minutes below (and attached), as well as the PowerPoint and handouts from the Addressing Islamophobia presentation.
- Introductions – Included welcome of new members and the addition of sharing what brings you to the meeting
- Trauma Informed Journey- Addressing Islamophobia and its Impact on Children, using a Trauma-Informed Lens presented by Lallia Allali, Linda K. Williams, Godwin Higa, and John Michno. This was a wonderful presentation on the grassroots efforts to educate SDUSD students (and staff) on Islamophobia. Their PowerPoint and additional handouts are attached.
- Mobilizing Action for Resilient Communities (MARC) Project Updates Rosa Ana Lozada gave a brief description of the MARC project, noting that the Guide Team is one of 14 entities nationwide who received this one-time grant to support efforts of increasing awareness of ACEs and TIC and increasing resilience, with Harmonium serving as the backbone entity for our local efforts. Our accomplishments thus far with the help of the grant has been completion of our updated Strategic Plan, adding a focus on community engagement and authentic community voice, including trauma across the lifespan in training curriculum, and highlighting policy opportunities at the local, state, national and organizational levels. The grant ends at the end of October 2017.
- Committee Report Out
Resource Committee – (Morgan Baskett) creating a resource library. Once resources are compiled and organized, they will be posted to ACEs connection for all to access. Watch for updates and contact Morgan (at SDTIGT.resources@gmail.com) if interested in joining the committee.

- Announcement/Achievements Brag Sheets are passed out each meeting to capture Guide Team achievements. These will be posted (with permission) to ACEs Connection and shared at future meeting, time permitting. This is also a useful way to gather outcome measurements for the MARC grant. Email completed sheets to Audrey Hokoda (ahokoda@sdsu.edu).
