We at Harmonium value the simple ways we can integrate trauma-informed practices throughout our organization’s culture. Ensuring that staff connect trauma informed practices to the Agency’s mission and core values helps to integrate mindful practice into our daily interactions. Harmonium’s four core values are Respect, Creativity, Self-Sufficiency, and Continuous Improvement.
One way we are integrating trauma-informed practices is by using Desktop Screens.
Each month, our Information Technology (IT) Coordinator updates all Harmonium owned desktop screens with a new theme that has a cultural focus and/or awareness message. This simple action allows staff to engage in an artistic way as we strengthen our trauma-informed practices. Having a higher appreciation of diversity and cultures supports the understanding and celebration of various backgrounds and experiences of our workforce and those we serve.
Harmonium is a nonprofit organization that provides a wide array of innovative services to over 5,000 children youth and their families each day throughout the San Diego region. Since 1975, we have focused on promoting well-being and self-sufficiency through education, intervention, and prevention services. Our after school programs, youth entrepreneurial and youth diversion programs, family youth partner program, and counseling services are inclusive of the Agency’s core values: and our four initiatives - Trauma-Informed, Strength-Based, Co-Occurring and Cultural Competence |
