LGBT+ Voices: A Cultural Experience

Experience the world through the eyes and voices of LGBT+ individuals. We will explore the intersectionality of age, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity/race, and culture. Snacks and refreshments will be offered at the start.

An LGBT+ panel of speakers will individually present a short 10-minute story on their life experiences and lessons they’ve learned.
Every person has a voice. Every voice has a story. Each short story will depict unique and personal experiences of growing up LGBT+, and how it impacted their lives and the lives of those around them. Each story will be ONE account from ONE individual, and will not be generalizable to the entire LGBT+ community, but will provide social and cultural context to everyone in the community as to what experiences can occur. These stories may serve to instill life lessons from one generation of LGBT+ members to the next, and one community member to another.

The first step towards social acceptance and diversity is understanding. Experiencing first-hand accounts of the diverse panelists, who are family, friends, neighbors, and community members, will breed empathy and understanding. In a time of blatant social inequality and division across the world, it becomes even more vital for the San Diego community to come together and stand united.

Audience members will have an opportunity to interact with the panelists and ask questions about their experiences. Come join us for an evening of vivid storytelling, cultural learning, and social bonding.

Park in Lot 3 and walk to the Student Union (refer to map). Parking is $2 per hour so carpool!!

Turn right onto College Avenue (you will want to be on the furthest left lane that still turns right)

Turn left onto Zura Way 0.14 miles (will be midway up the College Ave hill towards Montezuma; make a U-turn if you pass it)

WEST SD - Mission Valley & Point Loma to SDSU Lot 3:
Take I-8 East
Take exit 10 towards College Avenue

Turn right onto College Avenue (you will want to be on the furthest left lane that still turns right)

Turn left onto Zura Way after 0.14 miles (will be midway up the College Ave hill towards Montezuma; make a U-turn if you pass it)

You have arrived at your destination, on the right


EAST SD - La Mesa, El Cajon & Lakeside to SDSU Lot 3:
Take I-8 West: San Diego
Take exit 10 towards College Avenue

Turn left onto College Avenue

Turn left onto Zura Way after 0.14 miles (will be midway up the College hill towards Montezuma; make a U-turn if you pass it)

NORTH SD - Tierrasanta, Mira Mesa, Rancho Benardo, & Escondido to SDSU Lot 3:
Take I-15 South
