San Diegan Appointed To California’s Homeless Housing Initiative (kpbs.org)
A new state program aimed at providing housing for homeless individuals with serious mental illness is slowly coming together. The "No Place Like Home" program was approved by Gov. Jerry Brown last year. He recently appointed Alfredo Aguirre, director of San Diego County's Behavioral Health Services, to the program’s advisory committee. California issues update on state residents' ACE scores from 2011 & 2013 surveys
The latest adverse childhood experiences survey from the California Department of Public Health shows that 42% of the population has an ACE score of 3 or higher; 16% have an ACE score of 4 or higher. County to start pilot program for people in jail with mental illness (sandiegouniontribune.com)
County supervisors approved a pilot project this past week that puts men who are in jail with mild to moderate mental illness in an intensive treatment regimen of 12-step meetings, outpatient therapy sessions and neighborhood support programs.
