Public Safety SLO is thrilled to announce an upcoming FREE event on Saturday, November 18th at Cuesta College (Room 5401); the first in-person community centered dialogue on community policing since 2020!
We invite SLO County residents to lead the discussion on community policing; help create solutions through collaborative problem solving; improve transparency, trust, and awareness; and build relationships.
Meet the Panelists:
The panel will include Chief of Police Mike Martinez (AGPD); Chief of Police Rick Scott (SLOPD); and Sheriff Ian Parkinson (Sheriff's Office).
Topics to be Discussed Include:
- People with Mental Illness and Substance Abuse: Foreword by Aurora William, Board President of NAMI SLO County and mother of someone with severe mental illness
- People Experiencing Homelessness: Foreword by Bull Chaney, Board Member of 805 Street Outreach with lived experience being unhoused
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Community Outreach: Foreword by Rita Casaverde, Executive Director of the Diversity Coalition of SLO County and immigrant from Peru

This event will go from 1-4pm, with a half hour socialization with light refreshments and snacks before and after the 2-hour community-led discussion.
