Good morning,
Please join us for the next Trauma Informed SLO meeting on Thursday, January 25th from 1:30 – 3:00 PM.
In addition to Bridges to Resilience, Sticks & Stones, and TIC Needs Assessment updates we’re excited to share with you the following presentations:
Crisis Intervention Team Trainings
Sergeant Ron Slaughter will discuss the Crisis Intervention Team Training that local law enforcement is participating in. It is a 40-hour course facilitated by the Sheriff’s Office taught by subject matter experts from several agencies and organizations based in SLO County. While the aim of the 40-hour class is to educate law enforcement on interacting with individuals in the midst of a mental health crisis (and the many things that could lead someone there), one of the biggest benefits has been to inter-agency communication.
Central Coast Hotline
Melanie Barket, Program Manager with T-MHA will be presenting an overview of the Central Coast Hotline. Central Coast Hotline strives to be trauma informed in all of their responses on all of their calls and texts, in addition to how they process those difficult calls afterwards. They understand that there is always more than what is being said and look at the big picture when helping others. Their Crisis Line Specialists go through Trauma Informed training during the initial training in addition to ongoing trainings and constant constructive feedback throughout the year.
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or if you would like to be added to the Trauma Informed SLO ongoing calendar invitation and email list.
Thank you,
